Just got back from a week long painting trip in New Mexico. Everywhere there were views of intense color, that gave inspiration for new paintings. It has been way too long since I took a painting trip. The camera typically just can't pick up the true colors of a scene and so getting out a plein air painting not only inspires, but gives accurate color reference. This time I even did a color board with mixed colors from some of the views I was painting. With our annual 5x7 auction just around the corner, I took panels to paint for the show and came back with seven 5x7 paintings in various stages of production. They will be priority this week in the Studio and posted on the auction page. -DIX BAINES Good morning New Mexico. My first morning. Ya, crazy red. What a spectacular array of color along the Rio Grande. Couldn't help but paint several 5x7 paintings of the views around the river. Pilar. Always a sweetheart and one that I enjoy painting and have done so in many sizes, seasons, and formats. looking forward to exploring this view with the sunlit trees.

Fences can be built quickly, relative to the time it would take for trees and plants to grow if they were to be used as a natural barrier. Privacy fences can provide instant advantage and usefulness.

Dix Baines“I am drawn to the things which speak to the senses; the light and atmosphere of landscapes, the impressions of a moment or place, and the spirit of nature and of people. It is important to me to strive as an artist to paint a variety of subjects and to paint each equally well. I paint often on location, or from life. Whether researching sporting life images, landscapes, or places from abroad, painting directly from the subject is essential to capturing the impression of what I see.” -DIX BAINES Archives
