    OUT & ABOUT AUCTION
"Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike." John Muir
As an artist, Dix Baines finds that by getting

OUT & ABOUT and into nature, as John Muir spoke about, both "body and soul" are healed. Inspiration for new paintings flows, as he sees the beauty, participates in the environment, and in general, breaths it all in. These paintings find their way into galleries, into shows, commissions, and occasionally a miniature painting, that will be auctioned on the

     NOTES AND BRUSHSTROKES

As I watch Dix Baines each day, I am amazed at the small size of the brushes he uses and the even smaller dabs of paint that eventually add up to one amazing painting. As a pianist I have come to recognize, that what he does with paint is not that much different than what the composer does with notes. Both artist and composer work '...line upon line...' to create their masterpiece through a great deal of persistence and consistency, not to mention patience.
Join us for an evening of fine art and music and find the connections  between the
"Notes and Brushstrokes" with a piano recital of works by Frederic Chopin and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, presented by Kathlyn Gogarty-Baines, and the original oil paintings of Dix Baines in the Annual Studio 5x7 Auction.
Each original oil painting has a $300 value, with starting bid for each painting at $150.

    SUMMER GARDEN PARTY & AUCTION
Most of us are familiar with Claude Monet’s amazing garden scenes, and particularly his stunning water lilies, but the fact that Monet was also an avid gardener may be less well known. “Monet’s endeavors as a gardener were an essential part of his identity as a painter and … his artistic vision drew strength from his passion for his garden …. painting his garden was ‘an act of faith, an act of love, and humility, in which he struck a harmony with nature that allowed him to identify with creation and become absorbed in it.” -from Monet’s Garden in Art by Debra N. Mancoff
As an avid gardener and creator of ponds, DIX BAINES, likewise, understands well being “absorbed by creation.” His Studio reaches far beyond the four walls where is easel stands, into the yard where we have created our own sanctuary, with three Koi ponds, pathways, flowers, trees and in general, the miracles of life. These images have become the subjects of many of his current paintings and these gems are being included in our Annual Summer Garden Party and Auction. Each original oil painting has a $300 value, with starting bid for each painting at $150.
